The Northwood Bugle Broken Heared

Heart is Broken

Parents are greatly concerned that the closure of Sacred Heart Primary School in July now looks inevitable, and they fear that there will be a knock-on effect in the local community.

The School which opened in 1958, was the first Catholic School in Northwood, and at one time had classes of over 40

Eighty plus children use the play facilities of New Parc Play group, run at the school. This covers holiday times as well as school times. through the hard work and dedication of the Parc Staff, there is now also a youth group working alongside the play group. One Parent told The Bugle "The Loss would prove devastating to the community and to the young people involved."

"Other areas of Kirkby are currently facing problems of vandalism to buses and property, which is has a bad effect on residents. The Police are at full stretch trying to cover the area and the bus companies are refusing to come into the area after early evening.

The usual cry is "where are the Parents?” make the Parents responsible.” Well here are the Parents who are devoting their time and energies so as to ensure that the are facilities for the children to play and learn to appreciate and respect their surroundings, and they now face being thrown out once more"

Neither the Liverpool Archdiocese, who own the building, nor Knowsley Council who own the land are willing to commit themselves to answering the questions being asked by the parents, children, youth of the area?

What is happening to the school?. What will happen to the New Parc Facility? And above all Why are the facilities of Northwood being whittled away?..
